NDUGA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Monday, 2 September 2024, the 503 Task Forces, especially the Soldiers of the Batas Batu Post led by Second Lieutenant Yudi Riandoko, conducted a security patrol in the Mumugu Village, Nduga District. During the patrol, the Patrol Team distributed free packages of basic necessities, including rice and cooking oil, to the Mumugu residents in the patrol area.
Emphasizing the Soldiers' role, the Commander of the 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. This message was not just words but an immediate call to action. Therefore, on Monday morning, the Soldiers took advantage of their patrol by distributing free packages of basic necessities to the Mumugu residents.
While maintaining their focus on security, the Soldiers took the opportunity to communicate with the residents. The response from the Mumugu residents was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their happiness for the packages. After receiving the Soldiers ' free packages, the residents’ joy was immediately visible from their wide smiles and laughter. One Papuan Mother, Mrs. Marta Menjeh, even said, " Praise God, thank you, Commander 503, for the packages. God bless TNI", a testament to the strong bond between the community and the Task Forces. This heartwarming response from the community underscores the impact of the Task Forces' efforts and the gratitude of the Mumugu residents.
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 503 Task Forces’ initiative to distribute free packages of basic necessities to the Mumugu residents. His words: "The 503 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to packages of basic necessities for the community to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA not only underscores the importance of such initiatives but also instills a sense of hope and optimism about their potential to positively impact the region's development.
